"Seconds Before The End"
5 December 1971, late afternoon, F/L Safdar Mehmood positioning himself for a shooting drill at an escaping IAF hunter of No. 20 Sqn. The hunter made a rocket attack on PAF Sakesar radar. The attacker was intercepted by PAF Mirages. The leader fired his 30 mm cannon and scored hits and then his wingman F/O Sohail finished him off through sidewinder.

Excellent Work. Though the captions may need some updation to reflect correct history.
ReplyDelete"The hunter made an unsuccessful rocket attack on PAF Sakesar radar. "
From http://kaiser-aeronaut.blogspot.com/2011/02/air-defence-in-northern-sector-1971-war.html
"a lone intrepid Hunter was able to sneak in for yet another successful attack on Sakesar radar, adding to the damage and destruction caused by the previous Hunter pair"
I have checked the aeronaut blog. I think the sentence was edited later as the copy of the article i have says
ReplyDelete"At mid-day on 5 December, the IAF had made an attempt at attacking the radar, which cost it dearly, as two Hunters were shot down by a patrolling pair of F-6s. Later that afternoon, a lone intrepid Hunter was able to sneak in for a rocketing pass"
I am updating the caption in order to reflect the true history.
Thanks alot.
Rehan.
