“Srinagar Attack 1965”

The painting depicts F-86s of No.19 Sqn attacking Indian airfield Srinagar on September 7, 1965.

It was considered to be one of the most dangerous mission where the attackers could be easily detected and intercepted as they had to cross the mighty mountains. The formation reached the objective after visiting Avantipura airfield which had blocks on the runway and no aircrafts. The formation, at Srinagar found only two Dakotas and a Caribou. All were destroyed and the ATC was damaged.

Depicted here is F/O Khalid Latif strafing the second Dakota while the leader, S/L Sajjad Haider pulling up after destroying the first one.
